The Road to the Title: Competition Phases

The Rubber City Remix is Akron’s premier vocal talent search. We’ve designed a three-phase journey to find the most versatile and captivating voices in the city. Here is how the competition unfolds:

Phase 1: The Auditions

The journey begins at the heart of our neighborhoods. After signing up, contestants will perform live at one of our two community audition sites. Our panel of judges will evaluate each performance to determine who has the talent and stage presence to move forward.

• Patterson Park Community Center

Phase 2: The Digital Remix & Public Vote

The competition moves from the stage to the screen. Contestants selected by the judges will be tasked with creating a quality video of their performance. These videos will be hosted, here on the Rubber City Remix website, turning the power over to the fans. The people of Akron will vote online to decide which finalists deserve a spot in the grand finale.

Phase 3: The Grand Finale at the Maynard Performance Pavilion

The highest-voted contestants will take the spotlight for the ultimate showdown in the heart of downtown Akron. This high-stakes finale takes place on the Maynard Performance Pavilion, at Lock 3, where finalists will perform live in front of a crowd and our panel of judges.

It’s more than just a contest, it’s a city-wide celebration featuring:

• Live Performances: The best of Akron’s vocal talent competing for the top prize.

• Performance by Akron’s own, Mr. Rashaad.

• Local Flavor: A variety of food trucks serving up local favorites.

• All-Night Entertainment: Music and festivities throughout the evening for the whole family.
